I am based in Exeter, Devon, and am inspired to paint pictures of people. I observe people in everyday situations – people happily playing together on the beach or friends chatting in cafes, or waiting alone for busses and trains, or as individuals alone even in company as in the L'Absinthe gallery. I am on a journey – exploring the many different ways that these moments can be captured in paint.
My portrait work is mainly in oils but lately I've been experimenting with acrylics and painting full figures on larger canvasses.
I enjoy painting portraits, particularly of older people who have faces full of history and character. I welcome commissions (from £300) and would be very happy to discuss this with you.
Much of the work shown here is available to buy as an original with prices ranging from £40 to £400. Or the work may be bought as a mounted print from between £40 and £150. Please email me for more information and you are welcome to come and visit by arrangement.
A solo exhibition of my work is currently on view at Cartridges Law in St Thomas, Exeter and I regularly take part in Devon Open Studios.
A portrait! What could be more simple and more complex, more obvious and more profound?
Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
